Lungauer Stub’n

The Lungauer Stub’n in the Wastlwirt Hotel & Restaurant **** offers a unique setting for many a tasty meal. Each of the five Stub’n is furnished differently and reflects in its own way the Lungau tradition and a part of the Wastlwirt history.

In the “Bauernstubn”, the ancient vault is still preserved, in the old “Kuchlstubn”, Sebastian Baier’s great-grandmother still stood at the stove, and in the “Bürgerstubn”, locals and guests still meet at the large regulars’ table. The “Gaststubn” and the “Markterstubn” used to ask for space for travellers and still offer enough room for celebrations and larger gatherings today.

The hotel restaurant is opened midday and late evening and guarantees and cozy atmosphere during the whole day. The sun terrace with a pitoresque view over the Lungau mountains invites to enjoy the day.

Historical vaulted cellars

Between up to 500 year old foundations, extraordinary places for atmospheric evenings were created. In our wine cellar, selected wines exclusively from Austria are stored in niches made of clay bricks. Here, host Rudi Baier regularly invites you on a wine tour through the growing areas of our country. In the Schnapskeller, the smallest restaurant in Austria, we set the table for two for a 5-course romantic dinner of a special kind under candlelight. For sparkling celebrations, we open the Perchtenkeller with its private bar for up to 50 people on reservation. Up to 25 people can be seated here for dinner.

In the Wastlwirt Gastgarten, located directly at the village fountain of St. Michael, you can let the fine delicacies melt in your mouth. Enjoy the romantic flair of the market idyll of St. Michael, while typical Lungau life moves before you like a theater play. Experience the garden of the traditional Wastlwirt Inn as a unique venue for cultural events. Whether it’s the Samson parades, church processions, or the marches of the marksmen or citizen music band. The Wastlwirt Gastgarten is the meeting point for locals and guests.

In keeping with the spirit of the Austrian Lungau region, the Wastlwirt restaurant primarily prepares typical regional specialties: Meat and milk from animals raised in a manner appropriate to their species, cheese and butter from organic farms and alpine pastures, berries and mushrooms from the local forests, or spicy herbs from the garden.

Over an open fire, a wide variety of specialties from the Lungau Region of Delight in the UNESCO-certified Salzburg Lungau Biosphere Park, as well as international delicacies, are prepared right in front of the guests’ eyes. Look over the shoulders of our chefs and choose from an extensive and daily changing selection of starters, soups, main courses and desserts, and be your own culinary director.

You have the option of choosing your dinner from separate courses at a single price, or enjoy the entire culinary delights at an all-inclusive price.
